Notes! Notes! Notes!

How many notes do you need to keep relating to what you're doing, and relating to you customers or potential customers?

Notes are jotted down on paper, napkins, desks, anywhere where there is some space.

But wait! There's a computer sat in front of you - shouldn't you be able to put notes in there somewhere, where they will not only take much less space, but will actually be able to be found when they are needed?

Of course - and not only do you want to be able to keep notes relating to each contact separate, but you need to be advised when there is an important note to be read as soon as you access a contact's record. This can be of massive benefit to a business. Imagine you are about to 'phone a client to chase a debt which is well overdue and you are not best pleased and not in the best frame of mind, so perhaps you may be a bit more aggressive than you ought to be...

But STOP - there's a red blob flashing; an important note to read entered by David three days ago:

"Spoke to Alison. Bob is on holiday until the end of the month. He left a cheque but had made it payable to the wrong company so they will have to wait for him to return, but the cheque will be sent as a matter of priority. She said she was very sorry!"

You've saved yourself the job of having to phone Bob, you haven't become aggressive with poor Alison unnecessarily, and most importantly you haven't made yourself look inefficient when Alison has obviously already spoken to David at your company.

Note Management is important and can prevent you from doing things you shouldn't, as well as doing things you should.
